Happy New Year!  Its been quite a start to 2010....very busy with not only our regular horses that we tend to each day but extra with livery clients stuck in the snow.  The fact that our part of Gloucestershire is so hilly makes for stunning views...but going down our drive is not for the faint hearted.....our feed lorry only just made the decent with just one gate on the casualty list.  Thank God he came out in the first place as our cattle feed was dangerously low. These drivers realise the importance of what they do and are really professional  thank you Paul!

I have been so impressed with how cooperative and helpful everybody has been...not only with each other but us.  A ‘real war-time’ spirit!!  You can’t have it all and the price to be paid for such security at the end of a very long drive is the occasional hardship when it snows.  Having said that not one person has moaned and they have all been brilliant.

We need help on the farm in the form of a maintenance man...am I allowed to say ‘man '....preferably one that looks like George Clooney but can fix a water pipe, drive a tractor, repair slipped tiles, fix broken fence etc etc.  I think I’ve just broken every PC rule!  There is quite simply too much work and not enough hours in the day.  Mike & I managed to pay/emotionally blackmail his son James to look after the farm for two days while we went away on our honeymoon...18 months after wedding.  We both managed to fall asleep during film so I guess we must have been tired....and from the sniggers around the room at the end of the film probably both snoring!!!
